Dr. Douglas Halkyard D.D.S.
Dr. Douglas Halkyard, DDS, earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduating, Dr. Halkyard opened Halkyard Family Dental in Morris, Illinois. He is a life-long resident of Morris and has been an active member of the Morris Community for many years. He served on the Board of Education at Saratoga Grade School, the Grundy county Health Department and is a member of Friends in Christ Lutheran Church.
Dr. Halkyard is an evaluator of new dental products and materials for Clinicians Report Foundation. He has been involved in developing and patenting dental products that he has designed that have been used around the world. He has also published a paper on dental handpiece asepsis in the Chicago Dental Society Journal and has been a speaker at the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter meeting and the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP). He participates in continuing education to gain knowledge and explore the most current advancements in dentistry.
Dr. Halkyard’s professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the Illinois valley Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Illinois Valley Dental Society.
In his free time, Dr. Halkyard enjoys spending time with his wife Jeannine and his family. He finds relaxation in being outdoors, fishing, gardening, arrowhead hunting, and reading historical books.
Dr. Scott Halkyard D.M.D, M.S.
Dr. Scott Halkyard, DMD, MS, earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the College of Dental Medicine-Illinois at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. He earned his Master of Science degree in Biotechnology with a focus in Molecular Endocrinology from Illinois State University. He has experience working as an EMT in the state of Illinois, an International Trauma Life Support Instructor, a teaching assistant while at Illinois State University, and a research assistant at Midwestern University CDMI.
Dr. Scott was very committed to conducting research while at Illinois State University and Midwestern University CDMI. As a result of his successful research, he co-authored numerous publications in scientific journals, and presented his work at several research symposiums in Illinois, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
Throughout his college career, Dr. Scott was the recipient of multiple prestigious awards because of his dedication to his studies and research. He was extremely honored to be inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, Beta Epsilon Chapter. This honor is presented to students who rank highest in scholarship in their class and demonstrate exemplary traits of character.
Dr. Scott’s professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Illinois Valley Dental Society. He feels it is imperative to participate in continuing education courses on the most current and advanced methods in dentistry to provide excellent care to patients.
Dr. Scott enjoys bowling, fishing, flying his drone, and being with his friends and family in his free time.
