Meet Dr. Halkyard

Douglas Halkyard, DDS, earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduating, Dr. Halkyard opened Halkyard Family Dental in Morris, Illinois. He is a life-long resident of Morris and has been an active member of the Morris Community for many years. He served on the Board of Education at Saratoga Grade School, the Grundy county Health Department and is a member of Friends in Christ Lutheran Church.

Dr. Halkyard is an evaluator of new dental products and materials for Clinicians Report Foundation. He has been involved in developing and patenting dental products that he has designed that have been used around the world. He has also published a paper on dental handpiece asepsis in the Chicago Dental Society Journal and has been a speaker at the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter meeting and the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP). He participates in continuing education to gain knowledge and explore the most current advancements in dentistry.

Dr. Halkyard’s professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the Illinois valley Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Illinois Valley Dental Society.

In his free time, Dr. Halkyard enjoys spending time with his wife Jeannine and his family. He finds relaxation in being outdoors, fishing, gardening, arrowhead hunting, and reading historical books.
